You don’t need to stop the snapd service to upgrade snapd in Ubuntu. Stopping the snapd service can disrupt any running snap applications like Firefox, so it’s generally recommended to avoid stopping it.

Run the following commands to upgrade the snapd package.

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade snapd
